The following are the syllabi for various levels. The topics actually covered are by no means limited to those listed below:-
Level 1/Year 1 (Beginners)
- The letters and sounds of the Greek alphabet
- Ordering drinks and food
- Requesting and following directions in the street
- Meeting people, giving information about yourself and eliciting
information about them
- Going shopping, buying food, clothing, gifts, etc.
- Travelling around Greece, buying tickets for bus, train, plane
- All topics supported by visual aids and on-line resources
Level 2/Year 2 (Intermediate) - approximately GCSE standard
- Booking rooms at a hotel, pension, apartments, etc.
- Greek Hospitality; meeting the members of the family and
introducing yours
- Likes and dislikes - hobbies, sports and pastimes; comparisons
and preferences
- Plans for the future (the Future Tense)
- Writing letters and emails
Level 3/Year 3 (Post-Intermediate) - good level GCSE standard
- Talking about the past (the Past Simple and Past Continuous
Tenses)
- Sharing past experiences in Greece or Cyprus
- Writing essays, stories, jokes
- Giving presentations on relevant topics
- Discussions, debates, films, ERT television, the news
